Preparation and characterization of hydrogel from deacetylated xanthan gum produced by <i>Xanthomonas arboricola</i> pv pruni 106

Xanthan gum is a water-soluble polysaccharide obtained by fermentation of the genus Xanthomonas with several properties, such as low-cost, biodegradability, biocompatibility and non-toxicity. However, an important limitation xanthan gum-based biomaterials high swelling degree in solvent mechanical weakness, which results biomaterial disintegration. For this reason, aim work was to develop hydrogel reduced degree. The produced X. arboricola pv pruni 106 achieved volumetric yield 10.78 ± 0.27 g L−1. content acetyl group relatively low, around 1.33%, deacetylation process its level 0.8%. using deacetylated glutaraldehyde crosslinker. has shown lower higher apparent viscosity, overcoming initial drawbacks nature form. Overall, remained stable during whole storage conditions.
